I met Javed many years ago while spending time working in the forests of Brasso Seco. I’ll always remember the many adventures he took us on and the curiosity he inspired. Whether it was bird watching, foraging for fruit, or swimming down the rivers and exploring the nearby beaches. I immediately recognized a kindred spirit in his quiet, observant nature and desire to live a simple but intentional life. Even then, he seemed like such a wise soul. Javed was a special person that this world needed. His loss is tragedy and my heart goes out to all that he touched. I’ve always liked these pictures of him - he appears one with the earth that he loved so dearly.
